April Chen-Jung Lin holds a PhD in humanities from Ochanomizu University, Japan, and is currently a professor in the Department of History at Tamkang University. Her areas of academic expertise are the history of Japan’s foreign relations and Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period. Her recent book-length publications include A Brief History of Taiwan’s Foreign Relations, Taiwan in the Great Power Struggle of the 19th Century, Witnessing 1895: The Formosa Republic, and A World History of Taiwan.
