At youth residential care homes, many children are referred by the courts or social services due to the failures of adults and, more broadly, the system. A-Bin, a quiet and introspective teenager, is about to graduate from one such home. Though uncertain about his future, he looks forward to starting a new chapter in his life. However, the sudden disappearance of a fellow resident’s cherished rabbit charm stirs suspicion. Given A-Bin’s prior history of theft, suspicion quickly falls on him, and his past record begins to overshadow all his efforts to change. Faced with the doubts of his peers and the weight of his own history, how can A-Bin move forward?
Adapted from renowned writer Wen Guo-shi’s Walking Through the Wilderness of Love, this graphic novel is brought to life by French Angoulême resident artist GGDOG. Through in-depth fieldwork at teenage residential care facilities, GGDOG reinterprets the stories of at-risk youth with a distinctive style, shining a light on the challenges they face.
